The German wine sector left his old fashioned image behind. Nowadays the scene is dominated by plenty of young winemakers who are – similar to the Austrians – just as well traditionally (in a good sense) as innovative.

The particular strength of Germany are white wines (even if we discovered quite a lot of interesting reds recently). Beside the undoubtable Queen Riesling there are other important varieties pushing upwards like Riesling, Weissburgunder and aromatic varieties as Scheurebe or Muskateller. This is not surprising since restaurants and cooking in Germany is strongly influenced from all over the world and many of the German white wines suite very well to exotic food.
